Three things Thursday- onions, yoga pants and eggs

by eatpraytri on May 24, 2012

It is Thursday right? This week has been weird. Not bad like last week just weird.

I literally had three random things that I wanted to talk about but had no idea how to fit them into any sort of coherent, funny, useful blog post. So alliteration will just have to do. And maybe some brownies. Or a foot massage. Whatevs.

1) This is one of the top two nifty tricks I have found through Pinterest. I can’t show you #2 b/c I haven’t taken any pics yet and its the sort of thing that just needs pics. But here is the other top thing.

Green onions in the freezer.

Once I got married and started actually cooking dinners that didn’t consist of cheese and crackers, chips and guar or a bowl of oatmeal, I realized that I could just not use the bunch of green onions fast enough. I would use them for what I need and then wouldn’t need them again for weeks and they would get all slimy. Slimy is never good unless it pertains to well…I can’t really think of anything creative, but its usually not good.

Insert Pinterest. So easy. This is why this tip is somewhere saved on my “why didn’t I think of that?” board.

Cut them up, put them in a water bottle, freeze them. Easy peasy. Shake them out when you need them. They keep forevah.

Please tell me I am not alone in my ignorance. Please. Humor me.

2) Have you tried the yoga pants at Costco? $16.99 and they are the most comfortable thing I might have ever put on my body. Someone told me they are made by the same “people” that make Lulu, but since I don’t own any Lulu I wouldn’t be able to even guess if this is true. All I know is I love them so much that I had to go get another pair within like 3 days of getting the first pair and am seriously considering going back to get another. Its just too good a price.

IMAG2033

Only thing that is weird is that the tag is the longest tag I have ever seen in a piece of clothing.

IMAG2035

Is that weird or what? That tag no longer exists in either pair of the pants. Its just not right.

(Sidenote…have you tried the pretzel buns they have at Costco right now? Please tell me yes. They are little tiny buns of heaven. We went through the first bag in about 2 days and K-dawg and I stopped at Costco to get some more tonight and they were completely sold out. The guy told us they sold more than any other Costco store in the city. They are getting restocked though and next time we might need to get about 5 bags b/c we can’t risk running out again. The stakes are too high.)

3) Paul and I are addicted to egg sandwiches in the morning.

Ever since Kristen opened my eyes to microwaving eggs (I know, I think I live under a rock sometimes) we have both been loving how simple and fast it is to make an egg sandwich in the morning. Well this weekend I got crafty with my muffin top/whoopie pie pan that my mom got me for Christmas. I whisked up six eggs, threw in some chopped up red pepper, S&P and some shredded cheddar cheese, poured into the pan and baked in the oven for about 6-8 min.

Perfect little egg circles that fit beautifully on sandwich thins. We wrapped them up and now its even faster in the morning! Just pop one in the micro for 30-45 sec and you are good to go.

I know other people have for sure probably had this idea before, but I was pretty excited at my brilliance.

So that’s it. My three things this fine Thursday. Who has two thumbs and is ready for a three day weekend? This girl! (thumbs are pointing at myself) I know, it’s probably better in person and not written, never mind my feeble attempt at humor…

Love these ideas!! Especially the one about the green onion! I never use all of the green onion I buy and it ALWAYS ends up in the garbage!

GREAT ideas!!! I can’t wait to try the egg sandwiches!!! I’ve been wondering what to do for breakfasts cause it takes everything I have just to haul my @$$ out of bed, let alone THINK of something to eat and then attempt to even make it! I had taken to buying the frozen breaded chicken patties from Costco…but they couldn’t have been all that healthy PLUS they gave me heartburn. SOoo…. I will try your brilliant suggestion of the egg sandwiches :-D yay Protein!

yes seriously, they are amazing. And if you want to just make one…just scramble one egg in a smallish size glass dish and put in the microwave for about a minute. That’s it. Donezo. Forget the messy stovetop. (ha, I kind of sound like an infomercial now…) Seriously though, do it!!
have YOU tried the pretzel buns at Costco? I would figure since you spend so much time there you would…if you haven’t, hunt them down and get some. You won’t be sorry!

I’m definitely trying that egg thing. Where did you learn to cook? Certainly not from me …

Soooo…. can I borrow that muffin top/whoopie pie pan?

I learned from reading millions of blogs!! SO useful! And no, that pan is MINE! But maybe I can get you one for Christmas and return the favor?

Oooh I will definitely be using your spring onion freezer trick! I just got a bunch of them from a friend with a garden, and they would definitely just go bad otherwise.

Also, lululemon pants at costco? What the what??

Reply

eatpraytri May 24, 2012 at 10:23 am

right? That’s what I said about the pants! They don’t say Lululemon on them, but if what everyone says about Lulu is true, then these sound the same. Serious comfy factor goin on.
