The grownups go OUT TO DINNER!
So the childrens have been gone for a week. As I was going back through my pics to see what kind of food I stuffed in my face since then I realized how much we had eaten out in the past few days.
All in all, it’s probably been about 50/50 of eating out and eating at home, but that is a pretty drastic difference from the norm.
For one (I know this may come as a shock to you) but kids are picky. GASP! And they don’t finish their food. A LOT (a concept that is lost on me.) Either way, paying for a meal that they don’t finish times two gets pricey.
For two (poor grammar but I’m going with it) its just not all that great for you to eat out for tons of meals. (Lots of reasons why, don’t really want to get into it, blah, blah, blah)
So because of that, we did our darnedest to eat most of our meals at home. But now that the kids aren’t here its been a little bit easier to just do some food out a little more often.

That’s a mouthful.
Here we go.
After Paul’s 2nd triathlon this summer (good job HONEY! everyone is still waiting for your recap BTW…….) we went home changed and then went to grub before we went to see a movie.
Since I want to hit up a lot of my favorite places before we move, we went to Chipotle.
Had to get a close up of those chips. I mean honestly, that salt! Kill me now. (from happiness) (and maybe high blood pressure)
Then we went to go see The Dark Knight Rises and had some popcorn. I splurged and had a Diet Coke. Bad Cinnamon!
Sorry there is no pic of the popcorn. I know, I am devastated too.
On Sunday after church we decided to use one of our Groupon type coupons (I just want to call them all Groupons even though they are not) for the Coho Cafe. We shared our meals and they were nice enough to split the plates for us. Love it when restaurants do that. They were also just at the end of brunch so they gave us some bonus mini cinnamon rolls for free. SCORE.
Salmon cesar salad and the yummiest chicken sandwich I have had in a long time. It had sprouts and avocado and “mushroom spread”? Whatever it was it was amazing. I want another one NOW!
Monday morning I had my perfect oatmeal from Starbucks
Then on Monday night I met up with my cutie friend Marjan for some walk n’talk and eat n’shop!
I had three tacos (shrimp, carne asada and chicken) but couldn’t finish them b/c of the yummy guac with plantains that we had. I thought the salt and pepper shakers were really neato for some reason? Idk…maybe I was just hungry.
Oh.
and fro-yo. Obvs.
How often do you eat out?
Were you a picky eater when you were a kid? Or are you still?

Welll… I’ve always been a picky eater. I eat a few more vegetables now, but what I’ve made up for that way — I’ve gotten pickier the other way. Lol. We always eat out on Thursdays and usually one other random time. A lot of times Sunday lunch.

Am I a picky eater still, haha…..
I try not to eat out too much during the week – but I would say usually one or two meals a week I splurge!

We rarely eat out. Maybe one or two times a month.. tops. Sometimes we go a few months without eating out at all!
I don’t think I was a picky eater as child (just the normal things that kids haven’t developed a taste for).. but I would say I am a little bit more picky now!

I have a serious love affair with guacamole. Oh, and Chipotle (although I don’t eat out as much anymore)…love it!

Love that photo of the chip– the salt crystals look amazing! I eat out more than I’d like….probably have lunch out twice a week and dinner out 3 times per week. I was a total picky eater as a kid– I ate the exact same breakfast for every single day of 3rd and 4th grade….and refused anything else! ha
yeah im about the same eating out-wise. Especially working in an office. Lots of lunches out.

That’s crazy that you had the same thing for two years!! picky indeed!

I have this self-imposed rule I try to hold myself to: Make dinner at least 4 nights a week and eat out the rest. Some weeks it’s really hard. Other times I find myself cooking the whole week. So really it’s just a loose guideline

I think that is a great rule! We are trying to do something similar. Eat at home most of the week and then maybe out on the weekends…nice compromise!

Albuquerque has a Chipotle … about 5 minutes from your Mom! One more reason to visit ABQ often after you move…..
5 min?!?! I didn’t know they put it so close! Where is it? we are for sure going when we come visit

Menaul and Louisiana, SE corner: across Louisiana from Coronado Center and across Menaul from a hotel that’s had two or three names. Good eats!

Mmm….Chipotle…Their guac is to die for! Those limey, crunchy chips are mighty tasty
.
Don’t you just love fro-yo time with girlfriends? And it MUST be girls! I go with the hubby, and it just isn’t the same. We actually only go out on the weekends..so I’d say at most 3 times a week. It was a wonderful move for us since we’re trying to live on a budget. However, we try new places each time to make the most out of every dining out experience. It’s been great so far! Oh and way to go, Paul!!

yes I agree, trying new places is super fun. Like little adventures!

MMm Chipotle! One just opened up near my house, well about 10 minutes away, and you had better believe I venture there at least once per week! I have been trying new options there too recently, different meats and such, allll so good
On that note though, I do not eat out very much at all… last year in college I did though, but in the summer, I like prepping most of my meals

Tessa @ Amazing Asset recently posted..WIAW- Can You Have Both?
yes! When I first started going to Chipotle I tried a bunch of different things and i think I have finally settled on my favorite. Well I guess since its what I seem to get every time! ha!

Love the pics!! I’d say in the past, we didn’t eat out very much. But things have been busy these last few months (as you know haha), which has caused us to eat out more. And guess what? It’s also caused (I believe) me to gain a few L-B’s!
