Sunday. After church. We are on our way to run some errands and then get some lunch. First stop is Old Navy to return a dress I had bought earlier that week.
The car is quiet, music softly playing in the background. Traffic humming by.
Out of nowhere, I blurt out,”I wonder what we will do with the dogs when we go on trips after we move?”
Seems innocent enough right? Maybe for us ladies. We know how we are.
Paul gave me a brief look that was gone in an instant, but I knew in that instant that he had the thought, “where in the world did that come from?”
So I mentally traced it back. Followed the path of the thoughts that jump from lilypad to lilypad in the pond that is my mind. Then I had no choice but to explain it to him so he didn’t think I was crazy. #pointless #weallknowImcrazy
(backstory point #1)
When I was at Old Navy purchasing the dress earlier that week I had a coupon for 30% off and didn’t’ realize until I was standing IN LINE that it only worked if you had an ON credit card. So whaddaya know, I applied for a ON credit card. It was mostly because I was *cough* buying just a few things and I wanted to get an additional 10% coupon on top of the 30%.
(backstory point #2)
We use a Southwest Airlines credit card for EVERYTHING and then just pay it off every month. That way we get TONS of points for flights.
Ok here is my thought process…..
We are on our way to Old Navy.
I wonder if we should start using the Old Navy credit card for things now.
There isn’t an airport close to where we are moving that flies Southwest. No point in continuing to earn points if we won’t use them after we move.
Snap! we are MOVING. And we have (or will have) three dogs when Chloe girl comes back to live with us. I wonder if that is going to be OK? It was tough to find a place to rent with three dogs here, what about when we move?
WHY do we have three dogs?
Who has three dogs????? No one, that’s who.
Ugh. At least we don’t have four dogs.
I know a lady at work who has four dogs.
That lady works with the lady who watches our dogs when we go out of town. We gotta take the dogs over to her house before we leave next week. I need to call her.
What happens when we take trips after we move? Who will watch the dogs then???????????
I blurt out,”I wonder what we will do with the dogs when we go on trips after we move?”
And there you have it. I love womens brains. Spiderwebs of awesomeness.

You can come rent our townhouse- we allow dogs.
And I’m one dog away from being a crazy dog lady… I love it!
My husband and I keep talking about getting a Southwest Credit card, because we fly with them all the time. Does it really give you free flights often? Like, if you just use it for groceries and gas even or would you need really big purchases to see the points?
Lauren- apologies for the delay, I’ve been on vacation and was without internet the majority of the time! YES, you do get free flights often especially if you use it for everything. We literally use it for almost every single purchase we make and you earn points like you wouldn’t believe. I guess it really depends of course how much you spend every month (we spend a ton on gas b/c of our commutes) but I still think getting something is better than nothing.
Especially if its something you use all the time. Hope that helps!!
Good dog sitters are important!!! I would love to babysit yours if you lived nearby!! Lol. And I totally think like that!

Ha! Love this! I am the exact same way. I often start talking to my fiance about random things, and he’s like, “what are you talking about?” Sometimes I have to explain myself, but most of the time I just move on because honestly sometimes I can’t even remember how I ended up on that random thought! Lol!

I know it was work for me to even come up with this and how my mind got to where it did. Sooo funny how it just moves so quickly onto the next thought!

Isn’t it funny how we leap from thought to thought in a matter of seconds? I’ve given up trying to explain. It isn’t very convenient to whip out a dry erase board all of the time and create a flowchart. ; )

Lol!! The things that go through our heads are sooo random and funny, love tracing them back to where they started. And I totally would have signed up for an ON credit card in that situation too!
oh thank goodness I’m not alone! ha!

I not only do that when I talk, I do it when I write. The only way I can catch it effectively is to read what I have written about 3-4 weeks after I wrote it ..
Hopefully you and Paul will connect with another serious dog lover, who will welcome your pups on occasion with open arms.
yes I do that too. So often I have to write something and then come back to it much later and “fix” everything and then wonder, how did I even put that down? Where did that come from? Funny our brains….

Well, our brains are related …
I LOVE tracing back random statements! If James ever says anything random, I always make him connect the dots because I love how the mind works!
