A glimpse

by eatpraytri on September 22, 2012

Before we get to all the fun pets tomorrow (23Paws YAY!) and before we get into the thick of what went down on our move on Monday…here is a glimpse of what has happened so far in the three days we have lived here.

Despite this city being straight up in the Mojave desert and averaging 115 in July (thank goodness we missed that this year) there is a decent amount of green around. Here is a view of our little temp house and what it looks like when you walk out the front door.

House

Kyle started school the day after we got here. He was so excited (or nervous according to him) that he wrote a list of how much time he would need in the morning and also got his cereal all ready the night before. So freaking cute he is. He would probably kill me for showing this so no one tell him ok?

That list says: 5 eat, 10 shower, 4 dress, 10 just in case for a total of 29 min. Then he added another 10, not sure why.

On Thursday we took my mom to the airport in Bakersfield. A quick 2 hours away. After we dropped her off we ended up taking a wrong turn and ending up on a road that magically had a Target, a Chilis AND a Sonic. Thursday was a good day.

Paul wanted to get a pretzel at Target but their machine was broken. I’m sure he would have chosen this flavor minus the dust….can you see it down there at the bottom? Grody.

We shared a buffalo chicken salad at Chilis. The fifth happiest place on earth.

When we saw the Sonic across the street from Chilis we HAD to stop for drinks. Then we saw this in the drive through? No golf course anywhere near by as far as we could tell, but then again we were so distracted by the Target and Chilis that maybe there was and we missed it. ;-)

Wal-Mart is the place to be around here. I have to been to Wal-Mart more times in the past three days than I have been in the past year. (I have been twice.) That has nothing to do with this picture, but we were on our way home from Wal-Mart when we saw this. A guy riding his horse down the main street. This town isn’t THAT small. I guess I will see how often this happens and then decide what to think about it.

Golf views

One of the biggest reasons I am excited about in living here is the proximity to the only golf course in town. Literally two min from our temp house and about 1 min from our future regular house. We have already eaten lunch there, hit a bucket of balls and have a tee time tomorrow at 6:17 am. We will finish right about the time it gets hot. I have a feeling my game is going to improve dramatically. The views from the course are stunning. Mountains surround.

And there you have it. Three days in. 727 to go. I’m not REALLY counting, I just calculated that. Pinky swear.
