23Paws #8 {WMDEED & recipe}

by eatpraytri on January 22, 2013

That would be What my dog(s) eat every day. WMDEED. You know, in the spirit of WIAW and all.

Yep. I did it. I joined my 23Paws party with WIAW party. Deal. There is human food included in this post as well so don’t be gettin all crazy on me.

= FUN!
This is what basically goes on a couple times a day up in our casa.

IMG 0342

All three mutts eat the same food out of the same bowl. Toby eats like its goin out of style. Guinn and Chloe pace themselves and stop when they are full.

IMG 0343

We feed them Beneful, Healthy Weight. It has all these different peices in it. Guinn and Chloe have their favorites. Toby does not discriminate.

IMG 0378

IMG 0351

First up, Guinn. He approaches, sniffs out what he wants and then crunch, crunch, crunch.

GuinnEating

Chloe waits her turn patiently.

IMG 0359

Chloe is the MOST discriminating when it comes to the food. She is very picky and snobby when it comes to eating. First of all, she can’t eat RIGHT out of the bowl. We have to dump it on the floor for her. The bowl will be all filled up and she will sit and growl at it until we go dump some out.

She is ridiculous.

Then this happens.

IMG 0364

IMG 0370

IMG 0376

See? She picks out all her favorites and leaves the rest for Toby.

Toby will eat anything. His little quirk is that he likes to take the food and then go eat it somewhere else. Sometimes he puts the pieces inside shoes that are lying around or on any type of clothing that may be on the ground nearby.

The other thing that the pups loooove are their giant milkbone treats. They don’t get them very often but when they do, pretty much the same scenario goes down.

  • Toby eats his right away.
  • Guinn goes and buries it somewhere in the house.
  • Chloe sits with it in front of her and growls when any other pup comes by.

IMG 0421

Toby will often try to steal it. Or at least stare at it longingly.

IMG 0432

Success!!

IMG 0434

Don’t worry, we usually take it and give it back to Chloe and then finally she will eat it.

About this time Guinn comes back after digging his bone out of the sheets or pillows or wherever he buried it 5 minutes ago.

IMG 0438

and he tells us Nanny Nanny Boo Boo! I got a bone and you don’t! hehe…sorry couldn’t resist. Isn’t that the funniest pic?

IMG 0444

And two more pics of Chloe just because I love them.

Ok ready for some people food?

I saw this recipe on Aly’s blog a couple of weeks ago and it looked so simple and delicious that I had to try it. Creamy Chicken and Mushroom with Pasta.

Her post is way more descriptive about how to make this and I used all the same ingredients and didn’t change anything. Go check out her post for the recipe.

Only a couple of issues I had:

  • I think I need to figure out how to chop onions smaller. Usually they make my eyes water so bad (and I didn’t have my swimming goggles handy) that I just try to get through it as quick as possible, and I just felt the pieces were too big for our taste.
  • Also, in the directions it says to add an egg to the milk/broth mixture. I did, but I wasn’t sure how to really keep it from solidifying. I was stirring and stirring but I felt like there were pieces of cooked egg floating around in the sauce. It didn’t affect the taste or anything, I just felt like I was doing something wrong. Aly? Suggestions?

Other than that….it was great! I love mushrooms and I think I should have added more. This was really yummy and I am glad I made it!

I have one of those little chopper thingy’s … I forget what it’s called but it’s from the Macy’s kitchen department. I throw half an onion in there and hit the handle a few times, and it gives me chopped onions. I’ve found that to be much easier when I need to chop smaller pieces!

Yes I’ve seen those. I need to just bite the bullet and get one. I think that is one of those kitchen gadgets that is actually very helpful instead of just annoying like a “banana slicer”. I mean isn’t that really just a knife? HA!

It’s been awhile since you last blogged. Just saying. Also, I almost always double the mushrooms in any recipe. They shrink up so it makes sense. Miss you. Blog more. That is all.

LOL. I’m in San Diego right now visiting my friend. I was a bad blogger and only scheuduled two posts for my time away. They are tomorrow and Monday. After that I promise to be better. ;-)
And yes, doubling the mushrooms is a great idea. The same thing always happens with spinach. I’m like how does that WHOLE bag turn into THAT? Cray Cray. ;-)

Oh my, your dogs are too cute! Isn’t it funny how each of them has a very special personality showing through even in their eating habits? The next time somebody says animals were totally different from people I’ll show them this post.

What I find especially funny is how Chloe – the little lady – is the one preferring to eat her food from the floor rather than the bowl :D .

this is hilarious, I love the discrimination of different sizes of the food for each dog. Oh dogs, they always bring a smile to your face.

I can’t believe they share! Milo eats everything in less than a minute, so another dog would be screwed! And he always hides his bones in pillows too, then cries because he forgot where he hid them!

I know right? We consider ourselves lucky that they can all eat out of the same bowl and not fight. Guinn never forgets…he usually doesn’t leave them buried all that long…I think b/c he is too afraid the other dogs will find and eat them!

I love your dogs. Chloe and her food are hilarious. I took on the WIAW/23PAWS challenge and I’ve got a picky eater puppy too. Lot’s of growling and supervising that goes on at my house twice a day for meals.

I’m horrible at chopping onions too. If my husband is home, I delegate. I’ve seen some gnarly goggles just for super sensitive onion choppers, and I think I need to get me some.

Happy 23PAWS – thanks for hosting.

I love dog eating quirks. Oscar’s eating habit changes daily. Some days he’ll eat out of his bowl. Some days he’ll take a mouthful and set it just outside his bowl and eat it. Some days he’ll bring his mouthful all the way into the living room and eat it. And he never eats when he’s home alone. We always joke that he’s rationing his food in case we don’t return.

Oh my, this post is too funny. Our dogs are so different. If they ate out of the same bowl there would be fighting and bloodshed. Our lab would eat an entire of bag of food, throw up and then keep eating if we let her. Gross, but I’m pretty sure that’s what she’d do. She gobbles her food down in about 30 seconds.

The poodle eats very slowly throughout the day, often loosing her food to the apparently starving lab if she doesn’t watch it closely enough. I tried to mix her dog food once . . .. just different sizes of kibble, but the same exact food. She picked out the tiny pieces and left them on the floor before she’d even touch the larger kibble. Dogs. So funny.

My friend has some pugs that are the same way. I can’t even fathom how fast they eat their food. Ours like to savor. They are total foodies.

So cool to see this! :D For the onions, you could always leave them out if you can’t get them small enough. We’re onion/mushroom lovers, so just different tastes maybe? For the egg, it might be that your egg wasn’t warm enough and didn’t mix properly? You could try adding some of the hot stuff from the pan into the egg first to “temper” it then add it all in. Or, you might also be able to leave it out. It helps thicken and add some creaminess, so maybe you would just add some extra flour and butter.

I like onions too, but Kyle hates them (what kid doesn’t right) so I always try to get them really small so he either doesn’t see or notice them. LOL. Thanks for the tip on the egg. I was thinking of adding a little butter and flour but didn’t in the end. It still tasted great!! Thanks so much for sharing!
